Meet the Teacher
My name is Elizabeth Smith, and I am a second year Kindergarten teacher at California R-1 Elementary. I studied at Truman State University, and then transferred to the University of Missouri to finish my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I student taught in first grade but have been blessed with the incredible opportunity to teach Kindergarten! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband (Caleb) who is a third year medical student, bike riding, and reading. This come November we will also be growing our little family!
A few things you should know about me as your child's teacher: I believe that all children are unique and learn in different ways and they should be active participants in their learning. My goal as your child's teacher, is to help raise thoughtful, resilient, curious children. I encourage my students to think, to explore, to question, to contribute, to respect, to create, to play, to engage, to pretend, to care, to communicate, to be confident, and to become all that is promised to them. I want to provide children with the tools to become successful in life as well as at school, to believe in themselves and to become lifelong learners. It is my hope to build a partnership between you and your child that is based on learning and respect. The classroom will be an environment where mistakes don’t equal failure - but an opportunity to learn. My goal is that your child will leave Kindergarten with greater confidence, greater depths of knowledge, and a better understanding of their potential. I promise to devote my whole self to educating and encouraging your child. I appreciate your support with your child’s learning and look forward to a great year! yours truly, Elizabeth Smith |
